Cool irony

A few days ago I was considering asking for access to the remote control that would turn on my air conditioner. These days I’m usually wearing a t-shirt during the day while others are bundled up below several layers; meanwhile, I’m trying to stay cool while the radiant heating ensures that if I close my window, I’ll burn up in the heat.

Last night the school decided that it was time to turn off the heat. And with perfect timing, we wake up having a really cold day. For the first time ever I’m sitting in my dorm hiding under a few layers of clothes and feeling quite cold.

I’m always amazed how dramatic the swings in temperature are in Tianjin from day-to-day, or even just when the sun goes down. It wouldn’t shock me if I woke up wishing I could turn that air conditioner on again.
