Update: My good friend assumed I photoshopped the image, but I have to say that it’s 100% authentic; looking at it again I can see why she would. TRU has a press release that verifies that the PM visited the school today, but all I can give is my solemn word that that is an undoctored photo. I would add that he was taller than I expected.

Yesterday was a big day full of dignitaries, but today it was great to meet Prime Minister Paul Martin. Fantastic!

Earlier today I was thinking about my excitement in having the chance to meet him in person. Regardless of your political stripes, there is something interesting and nationalistic about meeting the head of the state. Stephen Harper attended the opening ceremony only the day before and, while I didn’t get to meet him, having seen each leader gives me a different sense of what intensity must be present in the parliamentary debates. I’ve watched some debates on CSPAN and only recently did I realize how narrow is the isle that separates the party in power from the opposition.
