In 2004, Justin left his job in Vancouver (温哥华) to study at Thompson Rivers University (汤普森河大学) and pursue a degree in business, with an economics major. From 2005-06 he was part of an exchange program with the Tianjin University of Technology (天津理工大学) in Tianjin, China. Instead of returning to Canada, TRU World sent Justin to Nanchang University (南昌大学) to study Mandarin Chinese. In both programs he was the first student from TRU to participate in these exchange programs in China and, in total, spent 2 years living in China.
Upon returning to Canada in July 2007, Justin relocated to Canada's eastern city of Halifax (哈利法克斯) and transferred to Saint Mary's University (圣玛丽大学) for a year. Justin is currently taking a break from school after having moved back to Vancouver to work, save money, and practice Chinese whenever possible.
