Next stop: China
HOLY COW!
I have just been informed my application to the TRU study abroad program has been accepted. In September, I will continue my studies in China at the Tianjin University of Technology (TUT). The courses I will be taking at TUT will be to those offered in Kamloops; essentially, they use the same curriculum (not just their equivalents), taught by Chinese professors in English, for the foreign students like myself.
Tianjin is a medium-sized city for China, with about 8 million people; Kamloops, on the other hand, has a population of 80,000. My province of British Columbia has a population of 4.3 million. This is going to lead to some interesting experiences. I’m told that it’s location on the waterfront, just 2 hours southeast of Beijing, makes it a great spot for seafood.
It looks like I’ve got a lot to look forward to! ![]()

Thanks Argun! Each day I get more excited about it. I particularly look forward to shedding some ignorance or inaccurate preconceptions I have about China; and of course I can also learn about assumptions they make of Canadians and Americans. Who knows what I’ll learn, but you can count on me writing about it.
